About Crag Core Vault
Mia Tanaka started this blog in the spring of 2021, after five years working as a visual merchandiser for a mid-size women's clothing retailer in Osaka. The job taught her one thing above everything else: most women already own enough clothes. The problem is almost never the wardrobe. It's the reading of it. She started writing to fix that, one outfit at a time, in plain language that didn't require a fashion degree to follow.

The blog found its footing in the autumn of 2022, when a post about transitioning a summer wardrobe into October without buying anything new got picked up by a few Japanese style communities online. That piece still gets read every September. It was the first time Mia felt like the writing was doing something useful rather than just existing. Since then, the focus has sharpened: seasonal dressing, outfit logic, and the specific decisions that separate a put-together look from a pile of nice individual pieces.
Mia Tanaka spent five years as a visual merchandiser for a women's clothing retailer in Osaka before starting Crag Core Vault in 2021. She studied textile design at a college in Kyoto, which is where her interest in fabric weight and drape started. Details that still show up in how she writes about clothes. Before the blog, she ran a small internal style newsletter for her retail team, which is where she learned that practical outfit advice lands better than inspiration boards. She lives in Kyoto, walks to the market most mornings, and has strong opinions about coat length.
